SHORT STORY
My dear best friend Sanjana’s happiest moment in her life was when her cousin Sirisha came to her house. She was pleasantly surprised to see her sister, and had a great time with her.
Before leaving, her cousin asked, “What do you want as a gift from me?”
Sanjana answered, “I don’t have a bracelet but I want one soon.”
Her cousin nodded her head and left.
Sanjana celebrated her half-sari function the following month. She was getting ready. She saw her cousin arriving and felt happy. She got ready and came onto the stage. She was nervous but seeing her friends made her happy. She sat on the sofa and was smiling for pictures we took. Then her relatives arrived and she went back to change. She loved the new dress, she picked it up only last week. The hairstyle too suited her perfectly.
Sanjana was nervous seeing all the teachers and relatives. But when her aunt and uncle presented gold necklace, she was elated. Sanjana was also checking gifts that she received. She was smiling as hard as she can. Gradually, the count of her relatives was decreasing. The lipstick was sticky; she hates lipstick. On top of that, she had to wear oily makeup. Her dress also started getting uncomfortable.
After two hours, she changed to a Punjabi dress. It was comfortable enough. Now her makeup was removed and she later danced with us. Her cousin Sirisha gave her a box. Sanjana opened it and she was shocked to see a gold bracelet in it. Then she remembered that she was the one who had asked for it earlier. She became ecstatic. At night, Sanjana opened the rest of the gifts. She liked all of them so much. She was delighted to see all the people she loved. She was thankful to everyone who gave blessings to her home. She was satisfied with the day.
